Labor Day: Trash Sl-i-i-i-de Week

In this post:
  1. Holiday slide schedule
  2. Disposal of unusual items (bulk items; electronics; household hazardous waste)

Don't forget -- due to the Labor Day Holiday on Monday, September 1st, both trash and recycling collection will slide down one day next week:

  • Trash collection: Wednesday, September 3, 2014
  • Recycling collection: Saturday, September 6, 2014

Other trash and recycling information from Howard County:

1. Bulk Items:
If you have large bulk items to dispose of such as furniture, you can contact Howard County for pickup on your scheduled trash day:

2. Electronics Recycling:
Howard County accepts computers, TVs, scanners, phones and other electronics at the Alpha Ridge Landfill on Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 4 PM.

These items contain toxic materials such as lead, mercury, and cadmium, and also have valuable metals such as gold, silver, and palladium that can be reclaimed.

3. Household Hazardous Waste:
Materials that are corrosive, flammable, reactive or toxic such as common household cleaners, rechargeable batteries, automotive fluids, paints, and pesticides are considered Household Hazardous Waste (HHW).

HHWs should be brought to the Alpha Ridge Landfill in Marriottsville only on Saturdays from 8 AM to 4 PM.

Enjoy the last days of this beautiful Summer!
