Autumn Walk Forum

The name of the Facebook Group for Autumn Walk HOA has now been changed to reflect its broader use as a means for residents to connect. Formerly it was primarily focused on repair and warranty issues.

The Autumn Walk Forum will remain a private group (so only members can see posts and who's in the group), but has been unhidden to make it easier for new residents and owners to find it and send a join request (please include your name and house number).

Although the larger Emerson Facebook Forum likely addresses many of the needs of our residents, there are still some issues that are much more specific to our street and the unique design of our houses.

We encourage all owners and residents to join!

Special Emerson Town Hall with HoCo Executive 9/24/19

Emerson held a Special Town Hall with Howard County Executive Dr. Calvin Ball in the Emerson Clubhouse on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Dr. Ball also brought many of his senior leadership team and Department Heads with him to answer a wide-ranging set of questions (posted below for easy reference).

The video feed was also broadcast live to the external Emerson Facebook Page and to the Emerson Forum:

Flamingo Friday!

Our new neighbors Jim and Melody hosted the first Flamingo Friday of the season last night!

The weather was so beautiful that they told people to come over any time after 6 PM and a nice group was already assembled by the usual starting time of 7 PM.

Melody also made a pitcher of mojitos with home-grown mint, which is going above-and-beyond but which didn't elicit any complaints!

Emerson Now Has a Facebook Page

Emerson also now has a Facebook Page!

Please "Like" the page to keep up-to-date on events in Emerson, and also to ask and answer questions of your neighbors.

And please also tell all of your friends who live in Emerson to Like the page as well. It will help us build out this great community we live in!

Successful First Emerson Town Hall!

The first Emerson Town Hall held on Wednesday, June 17 was a success, with approximately 40 residents engaging in a lively and informative session with three Emerson Board Members and CMC Management.

The meeting answered many questions and allowed residents to not only voice concerns, but also offer ideas for enhancing the community. Several audience members volunteered to help with community initiatives.

The next Town Hall is scheduled for August, with the precise date and time to be announced.

Alternate times (besides 7 PM on weeknights) will be considered to allow more residents to attend, especially since many have long commutes.

These notes are not in strictly chronological order because in some cases grouping topics made them more understandable.

Highlights

• Many questions answered about Emerson budget, Pool, capital expenses (major improvements), revised Architectural Guidelines, parking, traffic, Maintenance/Landscaping, dog waste stations, and safety
• Board wants to create FAQs because many of the same questions come up at every meeting
• List of the priorities of the Emerson Board of Directors handed out to attendees (reproduced below)
• Much discussion with all attendees about how to engage the community and involve them in both attending and helping organize committees and events
• Many are eager to help
• Attendees want a community where people know each other, not just a collection of homeowners

Autumn Walk is Now on Facebook!

Thanks go out to Sam Morgan in 9834, who has set up a Facebook page for us to use as a controlled forum for discussions within the community. The cover photo came from Randy Ransier in 9858 (the rainbow, by the way, was real!).

In order to encourage the free exchange of information, the privacy settings have been set at a level so that only residents who "friend" Autumn Walk can see and post to the page.

We hope this will serve as a valuable supplement to this blog in helping our residents connect, get to know each other, and help each other out!

• Social: discussions and ideas for social events
• Recreation: queries and suggestions on places to eat, play, work out, etc.
• Issues: Problems that may be of general interest (posts might be deleted later if the issue is resolved permanently)
